Sophie Powers

Sophie peacefully passed away March 6, 2009. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Jim, retired Captain of the Denver Police Dept.; children: Michael (Leah), Patrick (Marilyn), Carol, William (Karen), James Jr.; 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Sophie was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Anna Kulaga. Sophie was born in Starkville, CO and was a graduate of the class of '39 from Manual High School. She was a lifelong member of the Polish Nat'l Alliance. Public Visitation, Wednesday, 3/11 5:30 - 7:00 pm with the Recitation of the Rosary following at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 3101 S. Wadsworth Blvd., Lakewood; Funeral Mass, Thursday, 3/12 10:00 am at Notre Dame Catholic Church, 2190 S. Sheridan Blvd., Denver, followed by burial at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Wheat Ridge. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sophie's honor may be made to Collier Hospice, 3210 Lutheran Pkwy., Wheat Ridge, CO 80033 or a charity of choice.
