Spencer T. Sharp was born on October 13, 1998 in Denver, Colorado. Spencer approached life with a relentless pursuit of extracting the most fun and excitement out of every moment. He loved wholeheartedly, laughed loudly and accepted others unconditionally.
Spencer was a natural athlete who enjoyed joking with his teammates as much as playing the game. Sports shaped much of his life including; golf, football, lacrosse, fishing and skiing.
Spencer’s nana and papa were thrilled to introduce him to golf at the young age of 4. He played recreationally and was part of his high school golf team. Nothing could get him out of bed at 6am faster than a tee time. Spencer recently took on the chore of teaching his mom to golf. He was patient and scouted out the best shot as we laughed our way thru the course.
Papa also developed Spence into an avid lake and fly fisherman. The two of them never missed an opportunity to share this precious time together in nature.
Spencer shifted from football to lacrosse in middle school as he loved playing long pole defense. He was excited to join his intramural college lacrosse team this spring.
Spencer also spent many days in the Colorado Rockies skiing with family and friends. His adventurous spirit was in full gear as he searched out the less traveled routes and pushed the limits of speed. He was a natural skier and loved to help others learn the sport.
Spencer was always up for traveling and was able to see quite a bit of the world. Helicopter trips in Kauai, bungee jumping in Whistler, bike riding in Amsterdam, cave exploration in Cancun, surfing in Sayulita, river rafting in the Grand Canyon and zip lining Costa Rica to name a few of the adventures that Spencer’s dad and aunt planned for him. Traveling with Spencer was such fun as he kept us laughing with his jokes and undeniable charm.
Anyone who knows Spencer can surely recall his love of the finer things in life: exotic cars, top restaurants, designer clothes and the coolest sunglasses. These material items; however, could not compare to the love and kindness he showed to animals. His dog, Kodi, was with him almost his whole life and Zeke recently joined the two of them to double the joy.
Spencer struggled with addiction for 6 years. He shared his inner thoughts with his family and deeply wished his brain could be different. He was very grateful for the community that supported him on this tough journey.
Our world is less vibrant and beautiful without our Spencer. There will be no more loud music screaming from his stereo, late night texts of I love you and sleep well or whirlwind trips thru the house to grab food and head out the door. There are so many things we will miss about Spencer, especially the hugs he generously shared with family and friends. His short life was filled with an abundance of passion and authenticity.
