Stacey Lyn Suchomel, 61, passed away on February 5, 2022 at Sky Ridge Medical Center following complications from head truama after a fall. She passed peacefully with her family by her side.
Stacey was born on October 4, 1960 to Dick and Betty Skerik in Akron, Ohio. She grew up in Minnetonka, Minnesota with her younger siblings, Brad and Wendy. After graduating from Hopkins Eisenhower High School in 1979, she went on to study Special Education at the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire. In 1981 she met Dick Suchomel, and they wed in 1983. Together, they moved to Colorado and had two children, Chelsea and Meaghan.
Throughout her years, she worked several jobs in a variety of office roles, and felt fortunate to make friends who became family. She went on to manage all office operations for the company she and Dick owned together. She would say, though, that her most important job was being a devoted mom. Her life mission was to support and stand by her girls.
She and Dick were able to follow their dream of living in “the middle of nowhere” with their ZoeyBear at their home in Elizabeth, Colorado. She spent her days watching and caring for the deer, turkeys, and hummingbirds that visit the property. She loved to spend her free time camping with her husband in their Motorhome. When she wasn’t outside with the wildlife, she poured her love into her cooking. She always had a spoon in one hand and a full glass of wine in the other. Her joy and kindness spread to anyone who was lucky enough to meet her.
She joins her mom and dad in Heaven, while the rest of her family remains to continue living by her warm and loving example.
A memorial will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, February 26, 2022. The service will take place at the Horan & McConaty Funeral Home (11150 East Dartmouth Avenue, Aurora, CO 80014). A reception will be held immediately afterwards at their home (address will be provided at the service). Relatives, friends, and all who love Stacey are invited to come together to celebrate her life. The family will share the joy she always spread by wearing colorful attire, and we invite you to join us if you wish.
In addition to flowers, donations can also be made to one of Stacey’s favorite causes. She was passionate about ensuring rescued pets found safe and loving forever homes, and she frequently supported Demi’s Animal Rescue. Contributions can be made in her name at www.demisanimalrescue.com/donate.
