Stanley H. Collins, 90 of Denver, CO died peacefully February 23, 2014 in his home surrounded by his family after a long battle with cancer. He is survived by his loving wife LaVern of 65 years, two sons, two daughters, and one grandchild. Stanley, a world war II veteran and a graduate of The University of Oklahoma, enjoyed a successful career as an independent professional geologist working and traveling extensively throughout the western United States his entire working life. Stanley was Certified Professional Geologist with The American Institute of Professional Geologists for over 65 years. Additionally, he was a member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists and a member of the Society of Independent Professional Earth scientists. His devotion to his wife and witty humor will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and colleagues. A Memorial Service will be held in Stanley's memory at 11:30am on Monday, March 3, 2014, at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel; 11150 East Dartmouth Avenue; Aurora, CO 80014. Following the service, he will be laid to rest at Fort Logan National Cemetery; 4400 West Kenyon Avenue; Denver, CO 80236, where a Graveside Service will be held at 1:15pm.
