Welcomed into Eternal Life on June 8, 2014, Stanley R. Mizones, 90 years old, died at St. Andrew's Village in Aurora, Colorado. He was born on August 4, 1923 in Chicago, Illinois. He attended Kelly High School and Wilson Junior College. After graduation, he was employed by Western Electric, as an electrical engineer. On March 3, 1943, he enlisted in the Army and was trained as a medic, proudly serving in New Guinea and the Philippines during WWII. Upon receiving an honorable discharge on January 20, 1946, he resumed work with Western Electric. In 1964, the company moved Stanley and his family to Colorado, where he continued working for Western Electric until his 40 year retirement . He is survived by three children, Lynn James of Nederland, Tom Mizones (Kathi) and Barbara Poelma (Lee), of Highlands Ranch. In addition, Stan is survived by 8 grandchildren, Laura Patrick, Mark Carroll, Joseph Carroll, Mike Mizones, Jennifer Keith, Kristen Olson, Justin and Jordan Poelma and 9 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Florian. Stan was preceded in death by Yvette, his loving wife of 59 years in 2007. Public visitation Thursday, June 12, from 5-7 at Horan & McConaty, 11150 East Dartmouth Avenue in Aurora. Friday, June 13, Rosary at 1:00 and Mass at 2:00 at St. Michaels Catholic Church, 19099 East Floyd Avenue in Aurora.
