Born November 16, 1921 in Chicago, Illinois to Anna and Joseph Nieman. Brother to Joe, Richie, Ray, Johanna (all deceased) and Emily, Lenny, Lorraine, and Daniel. Stanley was a member of the Civil Conservation Corps and was stationed in Mt. Pleasant, Utah. He went on to be a United States Marine in the amphibian tractor unit as a mechanic. He was proud to serve in 4 major battles of WWII: Guadal Canal, Tarawa, Gilbert Islands, Saipan aand Tinian (Marianas Islands) and was awarded the Purple Heart. He remained a proud Marine in his heart all of his life. Recently, Stanley had been participating in the endeavor to boost the moral and spirits of the soldiers currently serving in Iraq by writing cards and letters. Stanley married Josephine Kaczkowski in Chicago, Illinois in 1946. He was very proud of all of his children: Theresa, Pat, Sandra (Toots), Jerry, Jeff, and Tina. He was a proud grandfather of 10 and great grandfather of 5. Stanley retired from the Chicago Transit Authority where he worked as a mechanic for 37 years.
