Stanley (Stan) Thomas Paprocki, 67, passed away January 4, 2018, preceded in death by parents Stanley J. and Patricia Paprocki, brothers, David and James (Jimmy), and nephew, Andrew Paprocki. Stan attended Cure dâArs grade school and graduated high school from the Redemptorist minor seminary, St. Joseph âs College in Edgerton, Wisconsin. He later attended St. Thomas Seminary in Denver and graduated with a B.A. in Philosophy from Regis College. He went on to have a rich professional life as a teacher of theology at Holy Family High School, Denver, and a Director of Religious Education in several parishes in Colorado, as well as, Associate Director of Education for the Archdiocese of Denver. His work in religious education took him to St. Francis of Assisi Parish, San Antonio, Texas for five years. Later, Stan became involved in drug and alcohol abuse/intervention programs and worked with the Southwest Regional Center for Drug-Free School and Communities, U. S. Department of Education, Office of Substance Abuse Prevention under the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the Denver Public Schools Department of Human Services, and the Colorado Department of Education with Preventative Initiatives. Most recently, Stan served as the Director of the Community Prevention and Early Intervention Programs for Colorado Behavioral Health as part of the Colorado Department of Human Services. He retired from this position March 2015. During his career with the Colorado Department of Education, Stan served on the Columbine Review Committee. He received numerous awards and recognitions from a variety of local, state, and national organizations working with substance abuse prevention. He was recognized for his service on the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Council from 2006-2014. At the time of his death, Stan served as board member of the J.P. Prescription Drug Awareness Foundation. Stan, fondly referred to as Bo or Bobo by his family, loved to cook and host holiday parties for his family and friends. He was an accomplished gourmet cook as well as a collector of fine china, glassware, and antiques. Stan was a very generous and devoted friend, brother, brother-in-law, and uncle. Survivors include sisters, Janet Paprocki Killick (Charlie), Jeanne Paprocki Tyng (David); brothers, Gary Paprocki (Jeanine) and Tommy Paprocki; nieces, Katrina Tyng and Nicole Paprocki; and nephews, Nicholas Tyng, Alexander Paprocki and Michael Paprocki. His beloved Chihuahua dogs, George and Gracie, also survive him. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated honoring Stan on Monday, January 15, 2018, beginning at 10:30 AM, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 4377 Utica Street, in Denver, Colorado 80212. A luncheon reception will follow at the parish hall. Committal services will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
