Stanley F. Schindler

July 18, 1929 — October 24, 2011

Stanley Fred Schindler began his time on Earth July 18, 1929. His journey ended Monday, October 24, 2011. He is survived by his wife Joan, 4 children, 15 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and a host of relatives of less direct descent but no less importance. Stan was born in Salt Lake City, Utah to Frederick William and Lena Augusta and was raised in Blackfoot, Idaho. He was named after a town that became ingrained in the souls of all his posterity, a town with a tenor synonymous with the man himself. He attended BYU where he earned a Master's degree in Geology and played football. He joined the Army where he encountered the only thing for which he ever had an ill word-boot camp. His time in the service took him to every state in the country and his career took him to the wilds of Alaska-a place perfectly suited for a man so in love with the grandeur of the outdoors. His greatest loves were his family, fishing at Valley Creek, and the Savior. He loved music and rallied for an impromptu verse at every opportunity. His favorite movie was The Sound of Music and he often brought serenity with a few lines of ""Edelweiss."" His utmost dream was to conduct a symphony. Perhaps at this moment he is conducting a Heavenly choir. He was a man of few words but of much love and patience. His life stands as an embodiment of sacrifice, selflessness and genuine concern for others. The only things he despised were disharmony in his family and sadness. Never was there a man more loved, revered and admired. His influence is eternal and persists in the lives of not only his offspring, but of those fortunate enough to have experienced his meekness and humility.
