Stella J. Davis

Stella J. (Miller) Davis, 96, of Denver died on August 23, 2019. She was born in Sloan, Iowa on November 19, 1922 to Robert W. Miller and Ruth Bratton Miller and grew up in Sloan, Iowa. After high school, she graduated from Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa and taught at several elementary schools in NW Iowa. On October 3, 1953 she married Richard (Dick) E. Davis in Aurora, Colorado. Stella and Dick remained in Aurora and were married for 53 years at his passing in 2007. Stella's favorite job for many years was as the Cook for Park Hill United Methodist Children’s Center. She also sang in the choir at Park Hill for 40 years and was part of the choir group who sang at Carnegie Hall in NYC. Stella was preceded in death by her parents, husband and siblings: Katherine Huot, Ralph Miller and Marian Buckingham. Stella is survived by many loving nieces and nephews and their families. A memorial service will be held at 10:00AM on Thursday, August 29, 2019 in the Chapel of Horan & McConaty Funeral Service, 11150 E. Dartmouth Avenue, Aurora, Colorado 80014. Private burial will take place at a later date at Ft. Logan National Cemetery. Donations may be made to Park Hill UMC or to the Humane Society of Aurora, Colorado.
