Stephen Edward Emerson, age 63, of Centennial, entered into eternal glory December 29, 2013 after a corageous battle with cancer. He was born July 1, 1950 in Denver, Colorado to Samuel and Sharon (Woodyard) Emerson. Stephen is survived by his wife Nancy R. (Taylor) Emerson; sons Jordan and Logan; daughters Madilyn, Meghan and Lauren; grandchildren Dylan, Da'sha, Abigail, Claire and Paige. Stephen graduated South High School in Denver and upon graduating he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served in the Vietnam War. Upon returning to Denver from Vietnam he graduated from Arapahoe Community College and joined the Aurora Police Department where he served his community for over 30 years. He was also a KOGA instructor for Aurora Community College. Upon retiring from the Aurora Police Department Stephen joined the University of Colorado Police Department. He continued on to become Security Specialist at Regis Jesuit High School. A Public Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 2, 2014 from 5:00 until 8:00 in the evening, Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 11150 E. Dartmouth Ave., in Aurora. Funeral Services will take place on Friday at 12:30 in the afternoon at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, 11500 E. Illiff Ave., in Aurora with burial following at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver.
