Stephen Curtis Jimerson was born on February 16th, 1930 in Denver Colorado at St. Anthony's Hospital. His parents were Ethel and Stephen Jimerson. His first name (Stephen) was after his father and grandfather, and his middle name (Curtis) was after his grandmother's twin brother. He was the youngest of four children, among siblings Dale, Glenn, and Darlene.
During the depression years, the Jimerson family lived at 2524 Champa St., then at 28th & Stout, where they lived in the rear of the shoe repair shop. His father was a cobbler, and his mother worked at the Puritan Pie Co. His brothers, who were a lot older and had graduated from high school, worked delivering and selling newspapers. Curtis helped them on Saturday nights selling on the corner of 20th & Larimer. During Curt’s adolescent years he attended Gilpin Elementary School and Cole Jr. High. During the latter part of WWIl, they moved to south Denver, where he attended Grant Jr. High and South High School.
Through friendship with Christians and their parents, Curt started attending church. He attended 1st Christian Church. Through the influence of the young people, Bob Carlton, and Pastor Sherman Miller, Curt accepted the Lord as his personal Savior.
Curt then felt a desire to study more of the Bible and received a basketball scholarship at Rockmont College (now Colorado Christian University). During that period of time at Rockmont, he felt the Lord was calling him for missions. After graduation, he was involved in various rural and teaching ministries.
He married Gloria Glover in 1956, whom he had known since junior high and high school. She had graduated from Biola University. Together they applied to the Evangelical Alliance Mission in 1958 and were accepted. They went to language school and started their service for the Lord in Venezuela. They were then called to Spain, and finally served in Mexico, until they retired in 1995.
Curt and Gloria were blessed with three sons and their wives, 15 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. Curt leaves behind children: Stephen and Dawn, Leslie and Joanne, and Matthew and Jessica; grandchildren: Luke and Melanie, Sarah and Ben, Candice and Adam, Crista and Eli, Boyd and Becca, Caleb, Jordan, Faith and Jessie, and Sofia; and great-grandchildren: Layla, Jack, Landon, Easton, Aveyah, Urijah, Zaelyn, Tayanah, August, Elsie Mae, and Teddie.
Throughout his life, Curt ministered in various ways until the Lord called him into His presence on November 10th, 2023. ¡Hasta luego!
