Steve MacMackin died unexpectedly at home Saturday, January 28, 2017 of natural causes. Husband of, Maureen; father of, Megan (Chapman), the late Casey MacMackin and Annie. Steve was born in Denver October 9, 1948 to Elizabeth and Carleton MacMackin. He was the second of three children. Peter and Elizabeth Anne were his siblings. The MacMackin family moved often in Steve's childhood, because of his father's job with the United States Forest Service. They returned to Denver from Philadelphia when Steve was in the middle of his senior year of high school. Steve and Maureen met shortly after his return when he worked in the Service Department of Fordland, Maureen's father's business. Their courtship was largely by mail as Maureen was spending one year in Japan as an exchange student. They were married in 1969 shortly after Steve enlisted in the Air Force. Joyfully their marriage produced three children. Megan, Casey, and Annie. Casey died 1987 at the age 9, drowning in Women's Creek, across the street from their house. Later, four delightful granddaughters joined our family. Megan's children; Ainsley, Ella, Cate and Erin. David Barhite and Annie married in July 2015. Steve praised God for his mechanical ability. He enthusiastically supported his children in Westernaires, Cub Scouts, and Colorado Honor Band. He befriended several young men and looked forward to their hunting and fishing adventures. Steve depended on his men's ministry to support and guide him through life's challenges while striving to be a man of integrity.
