Stephen Paul Mahowald

Stephen Paul Mahowald, also known as Steve, passed away on May 12, 2024, at the age of 61 in Thornton, Colorado. Born on May 1, 1963, in Colorado, he grew up to be a loving and dedicated individual cherished by all who knew him.

He was a devoted father and friend, known for his warm inviting personality and a contagious laugh that could light up any room. His life was marked by a profound commitment to his family, especially evident in his relationship with his son and daughters, whom he embraced as his own with open arms and an unwavering promise of making love and care a priority. 

Professionally Steve was a respected truck driver, having worked with Werner Enterprises, Shred-It, and Waste Management. His dedication to his work was driven by a deep desire to provide for his family, a testament to his true character. The immense amount of passion he had for being on the road was inspirational. 

Beyond his work, Steve was an ardent fisherman and enjoyed bowling and spending quality time with his loved ones. His hobbies were not just pastimes, they were ways through which he connected deeply with those around him. 

Steve was also a man of faith, regularly participating in Sunday services which enriched his life and provided him solace and strength.

He leaves behind a loving family: his parents, Paul and Louise Mahowald; his brother, David Mahowald; his sister, Diane Payne; his daughters, Brittany Hopfenspirger and Brianna Stauffer; his son, Bryce Mahowald; his nephew, Nathan; his niece, Marissa; and his grandchildren, Teegan, Taylor, Tatum and Carter. He was preceded in death by his Aunt Angie and Uncle Walter.

The funeral home Horan and McConaty will be graciously assisting the family and friends during this time, honoring a life that was lived with so much love and will be profoundly missed by many.
