Steve Dirling

Stephen Paul Dirling, age 53, died at Lutheran Collier Hospice on Wednesday, May 29, 2019. The cause was lung cancer.

Steve was born June 17, 1965 in West Palm Beach, Florida to Kenneth Eugene Dirling and Charlotte Spence Dirling. He lived in Woodland Park, Colorado Springs and Denver, Colorado. He worked in the auto parts industry as a Store Manager for Checker Auto, Napa Auto Parts, and Tires Plus. Steve served in the US Army as a mechanic and courier in Germany.

He is survived by his devoted partner Sherry Schriver; his daughters Erin Dirling-Smith of North Carolina, Becky (Tyler) Riggsby of Florida, and Shannon (Jake) Wright of Ohio; his grandchildren Carli Brynn Smith, Tallan Albert Smith, Avery Jade Riggsby, Kainen Tyler Wright, and Mason Ryder Wright; his siblings Leo Dirling, David Dirling, and Kay Dirling; along with many other loving family members and friends. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Mark Dirling.

Steve had a sharp wit and enjoyed bringing humor to the people around him. He was passionate about stock car racing and particularly loved fast Ford Mustangs. Steve enjoyed working on cars from an early age, and spent his career in the auto parts industry, where he shared his knowledge and enthusiasm with customers and colleagues. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

 

A Memorial Service will be held in his honor on Tuesday, June 11th at 10:00AM at Horan & McConaty Lakewood Family Chapel. A reception will follow the service.
