On Tuesday November 22nd 2022 we lost our father, brother and friend Steven Jon Altenburg.
Steve was born in Dickinson, North Dakota on Tuesday June 23rd, 1964 to parents Doreen Altenburg (Kubik) and Jeffrey Altenburg.
Steve is survived by his daughter Tori Lucero [Ryan Lucero], daughter Mackenzie Altenburg, son Landon Altenburg [Linda Klouser], grandson Lincoln John Altenburg, brother Mike Altenburg [Cathy Altenburg], brother Ron Altenburg [Amy Altenburg] , sister Sandy Roper [Chris Roper] and dog Koda Bear.
After attending Belfield High School and Bismarck State College in North Dakota, Steve moved to Denver, Colorado in 1986 to begin a career in aviation. He graduated from Colorado Aero Tech school in Broomfield in 1991 and spent the majority of his career as an aircraft engineer. Most recently he had been working at Ocado Group as a Senior Maintenance Engineer.
Steve or “Papa Bear” will be remembered as a man who worked hard and partied even harder. He was a comedian, a storyteller, an avid golfer, a skilled mechanic, and a fantastic chef and grill master.
Please join us Sunday, December 18th at 2 o’clock for a memorial service at Horan & McConaty in Centennial (5303 East County Line Road) with a celebration of life reception to follow at ViewHouse Centennial (7101 South Clinton Street) beginning at 4 o’clock.
In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Mile High Canine Rescue an organization that provides housing and medical care for dogs in need. Donations can be made via their website http://www.milehighcanine.org .
