Steven Charles Gaasch

September 10, 1960 — May 17, 2011

Steve was born in Pueblo on September 10, 1960 at St. Mary Corwin Hospital. At 8 months old he and his parents moved to a suburb in St. Louis, MO. His sister Sheryl was born 2 years later and he immediately took on the role of being her big brother. He attended elementary school and high school there. He was active in Little League baseball, Cub Scouts and Indian Guides. He and his Dad helped start a DeMolay Chapter and he became their Master Counselor which is the ""head office"". In 1976 the family moved to Littleton when he was a junior in High School. He had to make new friends which didn't take long and they are still his friends today. When he graduated from high school he went to Western State College and he loved living in Gunnison. Every 4th of July he made his annual trip there and was looking forward to going again this year. He loved sports so much that at one time he was thinking of being a Sportscaster. He excelled in writing and when he was living in Roger, Arkansas he wrote and directed ads for radio and television. While living there he married Tracy who had 2 teenage children, Mitchell and Chase. He loved beign their Dad. They divorced 5 years later but in March he went back for Mitchell's wedding where he danced as one of her Dads. He moved back to Colorado June of 2009 and was so happy to be back so he could once again be close to the mountains. He loved being with his family and able to spend holidays with them. It was wonderful having him close by so we could see him often. He also was so happy to come back to West Bowles Church that he was baptized a second time as he said, ""It means more there"". He once again became a volunteer there and made many more friends. He also volunteered at hospitals, K-Love and many others. He loved being in sales. He first worked in the Satellite industry, sold sunrooms, but was happiest when he was offered a position with Horizon Mechanical. Steve gave 200% to anything he did. Always a close friend and counselor to all and especially to his sister, Sheryl. He loved animals and had a pet cat named Paddy-O. He loved Jesus with all his heart and made it a daily ritual to read several chapters from his Bible. He memorized a verse each day and you can see them on the 3x5 cards which are on his table. He was truly a ""Shepherd on Earth"" with all his caring ways. He has been a very loving son and brother for his 50 years on earth. He was the kindest and most caring man and we loved him very much. His last words were: ""I am at peace and feel better than I ever have"", so he now lives with ""Our Lord, Jesus"".
