Steven Mark Pearson

April 29, 1957 — January 28, 2009

Steven Mark Pearson was born on April 29, 1957, to Robert M. and Carolyn L. Pearson. He was born here in Denver, Colorado. He grew up in the Denver area and attended Denver schools, graduating from John F. Kennedy High School in 1975. He went on to Fort Lewis College in Durango, and then transferred to Colorado State University in Fort Collins. He graduated from there with a degree in business in 1980. Steve also became a certified public accountant, and earned his living in various accounting jobs. Steve had several interests and hobbies. He enjoyed photography, learning to develop some of his own pictures in high school. He also enjoyed bicycling, hiking, and camping. He took pleasure in playing the piano, and in the past year volunteered on a regular basis at University Hospital at Anschutz, playing the piano in their lobby. He liked discussing a large range of topics, including business, politics, and spiritual things. He adored his two cats, Sunny and Golden. Steve was greatly loved by his family and friends. Many found him to be a good listener and a sincere encourager. He had a sense of humor about him that brought smiles to our faces countless times. He is survived by his mother, Carolyn Pearson, his brother, Scott (Judy) Pearson, his sister, Kristen (Carl) Christianssen; his nephews, Christopher (Savanna) Pearson, Nicholas Pearson, Zachary Pearson, and Kyle Christianssen, Cory Christianssen, and Conor Christianssen; and by his great-nephew, Hunter Glen Pearson. All of us miss him deeply. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTION OPPORTUNITY We have just set up a fund through the CU Foundation. Donations will go to the Division of Substance Dependence within the University of Colorado Medical School. Their three main areas of focus are teaching (mostly medical students and medical physicians) about addictions, research about addictions, and patient care. This is a ""suspense fund,"" which means the money will be held until we in the family can have time to decide on a more specific cause within this broad area of substance dependence. If you would like to contribute in Steve's memory, please make a check out to the CU Foundation. Designate it to the ""Steve Pearson Memorial Fund"" in the memo section of the check. Mail it to CU Foundation, 225 E. 16th Ave., Suite 900, Denver, CO 80203. You may direct questions to Kristi Sharon at 303-813-7938.
