Stewart was born August 8, 1930 in Richmond, Virginia to Stewart and Katherine Harris. He was their first-born followed by a sister Betty and brother Richard, both of whom pre-deceased him. Stewart attended Thomas Jefferson High School where he was a member of the ROTC, attaining the rank of Captain Adjutant. It was in high school that he met Dolores. He graduated in 1949. Stewart and Dolores were married June 17, 1950. They have 3 children; David (1952), Dana (1954), and Rob (1959). In 1967 Stewart purchased the Colorado Franchise rights for Charles Chips Co. Stewart and Dolores moved their family to Littleton, Colorado, where they both resided. Colorado became their new home. Their first years in Colorado were spent exploring the beauty of the state. Later, they enjoyed camping in their assortment of RV's with both family and friends. Stewart enjoyed cars, Denver Broncos, collecting hubcaps, maintaining his backyard pool and a good dark chocolate candy bar. A 20-year veteran of the U.S. Naval reserves, Stewart was a true patriot. He loved his family, friends, children, grand children and great grand children. Stewart loved animals and they loved him. An endless conversationalist, prankster, and practical joker, no one laughed louder or harder than Stew himself at his own jokes and misfortunes. He particularly enjoyed his association with Burt Subaru. Until Stew passed he expressed and showed his frustration with his inability to deliver fresh bananas to the technicians he befriended at Burt Subaru. Although he was no longer able to deliver those bananas, he still hoarded them. The family wishes to express their thanks to the caregivers and support staff for their efforts in regularly disposing of large quantities of undelivered bananas. Most sincerely, the family desires to express their thanks to the nurses and caregivers at The Gardens at Columbine and Caley Ridge Assisted Living facilities. Stewart had a special place in the hearts of those that knew and loved him and fond memories of him will forever be etched in our hearts.
