Stuart Melvin

Stuart Melvin, 90, passed away March 29, 2023, in Thornton, CO.

He lived in Ashland and Hurley, Wisconsin growing up. He was raised by Roy and Lucille Melvin, both educators. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin in Madison with a degree in Finance and Business. He moved to Colorado and went to work in the Banking Industry as one of the very first Software Engineers. Later, Stu formed his own software consulting business.

When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed his time outdoors hiking, hunting, and mountain climbing and playing golf. His hobbies included playing in several bridge groups and devoting an extraordinary amount of time watching and “studying” all his grandchildren’s sporting events and activities. Stu was also active in the Immaculate Heart of Mary food bank up until his final week of life. He was an avid reader and enjoyed reading the daily paper from front to back. Stu was extremely devoted to his family, and he doted on his wife, Cathy, as she was his princess. He was loved, cherished, and respected by all who met him. Stuart Melvin was truly one of a kind and will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his wife, Catherine O’Grady-Melvin, sister Maggie Melvin, and 4 children: Mike (Bonnie) O’Grady, Jim (Karla) O’Grady, Jeff (Kim) O’Grady, Lynn (Mark) Sibley and 13 grandchildren: Meagan (Cole) Hartwigsen, Blake O’Grady, Jackson (Lauren) O’Grady, Makenna (Quinten) Rodriguez, Kaslyn O’Grady, Mandi (Jose) Stovall, Cassidy O’Grady, Kylie O’Grady, Josh Albera, Delaney Sibley, Landon Sibley, Kendall Sibley, and Savanah Sibley.

Memorial Mass at 10:00am Thurs. April 13 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Northglenn. Livestreaming of the services will be found at https://bxcited.com/stuart-melvin/ .
