Sue Toughill Riley

Was born July 15, 1924 in Boulder, Colorado. She was a descendant of three Colorado pioneer families- Maternal Grandparents DJ Donnelly and Susan Dietrich of Idaho Springs, Larson Colorado and Francis Brady, and Susan McClane of Empire and Creede Colorado.

She attended school at Sacred Heart, Boulder High, and the University of Colorado. She was a cadet nurse at St. Joseph’s Hospital and joined the Army Nurse Corps in 1945. In addition, she nursed at the VA, Fort Logan, Swedish Hospital ER, and retired from Martin Marietta after 18 years in 1985.

She married Mannus Toughill in 1950. Through the years, he had an insurance agency, restaurant, and a dry cleaning business. Susan and Mannus enjoyed building their life and raising four children in the Denver metro area until Manny Toughill passed in 1974.

She married Don Riley, a former high school sweetheart, in 1991. They lived happily in Colorado Springs until his passing in 2006 when she joined her family in Littleton, Colorado.

Proceeded in death by first born, Michael Toughill (wife, Carolyn residing in Eagle). Survived by children Tudi Toughill of Centennial, Laura Logsdon of Littleton, and Mary Race of Fort Collins. Grandchildren Emily, Keifier, Luke and Chase Logsdon, and Mara Thomas.

As one of the founding members All Souls Church and an active member throughout her lifetime, the family requests in lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Vincent de Paul or All Souls Church at 4950 South Logan St. Englewood, CO 80113.

Visiation from 5-6 p.m. with Recitation of the Rosary at 6 p.m. Wednesday 12/19 at All Souls Catholic Parish. Funeral Mass Thursday 12/20 at 10 a.m. also at All Souls Catholic Parish. Interment will take place at Ft. Logan National Cemetery at 10 a.m. on Monday 12/24.
