Susan A. Akerman

Susan A. Akerman, 62, passed away on September 2, 2005, from cancer. She was born October 19, 1942, in Hamilton County, Iowa. She resided with her parents, Gottlieb and Mabel Mogensen and graduated from Stanhope High School. Susan graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a BA in Music Education and the University of Denver with a MA in Counseling and Guidance. She worked in the public schools in Iowa and Colorado for 35 years as a music teacher and a high school career counselor. Survivors include her fiance, Art Tucker, two sisters, Corliss (James) Forstrom, Farmington, MN, and Berneta (Roger) Balsley, Webster City, IA, one brother, Jon (Leslee) Mogensen, Rockwell City, IA, and a niece and 5 nephews. Her parents and a brother, Leo, and numerous aunts and uncles preceded her in death. A celebration of life service will be on Sept. 10th at 4:00 pm at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 3101 So. Wadsworth Blvd., Lakewood, CO 80227.
