Susan Claassen

Susan Delela Claassen, 83, died in her home in Brighton Colorado on December 09, 2022, surrounded by family after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.

Susan was born April 3, 1939, to E.J. & Adele Fortenberry in Laramie Wyoming, immediately brought joy and laughter into the world. After Susan graduated High School in Gunnison, she continued her studies in nursing, later becoming a Registered Nurse.

During this time, she met Carl (Sonny)and the two were inseparable from that point on and wed on June 16, 1960. Sue & Carl were married for 58 and had four children, Mary, Carl, Eddie and Kathy.

Susan was a wonderful wife & mother to all her children, raising them in the church and guiding them to accomplish great things. Along with her family Susan lived her faith within the church, community and 32 years working at Platte Valley Medical Center.

Susan was predeceased by her parents and husband. Susan is survived by a brother (Derv), 4 children, 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

A Visitation will be help on Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at Horan & McConaty Funeral Home, 9998 Grant St., Thornton, Colorado 80229. A Rosary will be held at St. Augustin Catholic Church, 178 S 6th Ave, Brighton, CO 80601 beginning at 10:30 am. Mass will follow the Rosary. Family invites everyone to join them for a reception following the service. Interment will take place at Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery at 2:30 pm.
