Susan Coleman

Susan E. Coleman, age 81, died peacefully at her home on August 10, 2021.  She was born on July 9, 1940 in New York.   She spent her childhood in New York and then Vermont.  She returned to New York for her education graduating from Columbia University in 1972 with a Masters Degree in Social Work and began her career in New York as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker focusing in adoptions.  Later she relocated to Colorado where she has resided for over 40 years and began working for Lutheran Social Services and later Jefferson County Social Services before retiring in 1999.

Susan was a warm, kind, caring person who had many friends.  She was a person who loved and was loved.   She had a special interest and expertise in genealogy and offered to help friends do historical family research.  Other interests included:  Playing bridge, reading, staying informed about and active in political causes, and going to the movies and theater with friends.  She loved cats in particular, rescuing three.

She was preceded in death by her parents John Coleman and Marjorie (Lebeis) Coleman, and a brother, Peter Coleman.  She is survived by a nephew Christopher Coleman, a niece Melissa (Coleman), and several cousins in the Gervasini family (Richard, Charles and Missy) and in the Lebeis family (Jean Carey, Richard Andrew, and Nancy (Lebeis) Miller).

Family and friends are welcome at Horan & McConaty in Aurora (Dartmouth & Parker) for visitation on August 20, 2021 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Susan will be laid to rest at Grand View Cemetery in Charlotte, Vermont in her family plot. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Denver Dumb Friends League.
