Susan Corwin Gary -- A life well and joyfully lived. Susan Gary (74) of Golden, Colorado â Sue, to family and friends (Sue-Sue to the youngest) passed away on June 21, 2017, following a long illness. She was born in Washington, DC, on December 30, 1942, to Thomas Parker Corwin and Jane Collins Corwin. She is survived by her life partner of forty-two years, Wynn M. (Buff) Bennett of Golden, CO, son Thomas Dain Gary and daughter Tracy L. Gary of Hilton Head Island, SC, sisters Nancy Collins and Mary Moss of Hilton Head and Bluffton, SC, nephews Ryan Parker Collins of Raleigh, NC, and Timothy King Moss of Washington, DC, niece Whitney Jane Collins of Hilton Head, and great-niece Emmy Corwin Collins of Raleigh. Stepdaughters Brooke Maher (Brock) of Lakewood, CO, Judge Danelle Liwski (Rick) of Tucson, AZ, and grand children Ben and Tara Liwski and Brynn Maher. Sue attended Sweet Briar College in Lynchburg, VA, and the University of Colorado (Denver). After a long and very successful management career with AT& T in Denver, she retired in 1996 and thereafter most enjoyed spending time with her family & many friends. As long-time members of The Club at Rolling Hills, Sue and Buff enjoyed golf, tennis, and social gatherings. An avid and curious traveler, Sue loved seeing and making friends in all parts of the world. From folk music in an Irish pub to a grand performance in the Vienna Opera House to a home brew horse race in England, Sue treasured & enjoyed it all. An enthusiastic football fan, a devotee of the arts, a lifelong voracious reader, an accomplished water-color artist, and a person interested in and knowledgeable about a wide range of subjects, she took joyful delight in all that life offered. Her wonderful laugh, sharp intellect, and open and generous heart are qualities that Sue shared with all her family and friends, and she will be long remembered for these wonderful gifts. She so appreciated all her opportunities to experience a very full life, and took advantage of every chance to do so. Per her wishes, no formal services will be held. A memorial to her life will be held Sunday, August 6th, from two to five pm at Rolling Hills Country Club â all friends and family are welcome. Contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
