Susan Kay Havener

November 30, 2010 — July 10, 2010

Susan Kay Binder Havener was born November 30, 1958 in Humbolt, NE. She spent her childhood growing up in Table Rock, NE. Susan attended the Good News Bible Club and at the age of six was saved by praying and asking Jesus into her heart. Susan attended school in Table Rock, NE and graduated high school in May of 1977. She was very active in school activities such as band, choir, cheerleading, competitive sports, and musical competitions. At the age of seven, she found the thing that would help shape the rest of her life, and that was starting piano lessons. She continued lessons, playing the piano, and learning to appreciate music until she went off to college. Susan attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln for four years receiving a Bachelor of Music in Education Degree in Vocal and Instrumental K-12, in May of 1981. After college, Susan moved to Boulder, CO. She worked for the theater department at the University of Colorado as a Pit Orchestra Accompanist for approximately six months while she started her own private piano studio in the Denver Metro area. She taught piano for thirty plus years. She met Randy Havener in the spring of 1984. They were married on January 26, 1985 at Southern Gables Evangelical Free Church in Lakewood, CO. Randy and Susan built a home and moved to Stonecrest Mountain in Morrison, CO in the spring of 1992 where they presently reside. They attend Foothills Bible Church in Littleton, CO and Susan's love for the Lord was known to all. She loved to share the gospel and her love for Jesus. God gave Susan a gift of playing the piano, but she used that gift for so much more. She used the piano as a tool to teach her students about the things that really matter. She taught them about hard work, self esteem, and discipline; things that they would use throughout their lives. She had a special bond and friendship with all of them, but what made it all work was love. Susan truly loved people and honestly cared about them. Her warm smile, friendly personality, compassionate heart, and loving spirit have touched the lives of all that knew her in a special way. Susan was preceded in death by her mother Kathryn (Mangnall) Binder, Parents-in-law Delbert and Leola Havener, step-mother-in-law Josie Havener, grandparents Ted and Stella Mangnall, Wes and Goldie Binder Droge, and step-grandfather Herb Droge. She is survived by her husband, Randy Havener, father Forrest Binder of St. Joseph, MO, brothers Lynn Binder and wife Elaine of Table Rock, NE; Michael Kim Binder and wife Marcia of St. Joseph, MO; Steve Binder and wife Angie of Rulo, NE; Brother-in-law Gary Havener and wife Janet of Loveland, CO; and seven nephews and eleven nieces. The Funeral Service will be held at Landmark Tabernacle Church in Denver, CO with Dannie Hood officiating. Pallbearers are Lynn Binder, Michael Binder, Steve Binder, Gary Havener, Bill Stephens, and Don Brown. Lori Hood will sing My Tribute, We Shall Behold Him, and Amazing Grace. The congregation will sing How Great Thou Art. The pianist is Cathy Haley. Psalms 61 and 116 will be read by Bob Knapp. Memorial contributions can be made in Susan's name to Foothills Bible Church, 6100 S. Devinney Way, Littleton, CO 80127.
