Susan was born on October 20, 1964, in Baltimore, MD to Jaime and Beverly Turdera. SHe lived in Maryland until age 14, and in 1979 along with her parents and sister moved to Madrid, Spain. She attended the American School of Madrid, and graduated with honors in 1982. She returned to the United States to attend Virginia Polytechnic and State University. She was a little sister to the Sigma Chi fraternity, and President of her Tri Delta sorority. After graduating, she moved to Roanoke, VA where she pursued a very successful career in Pharmaceutical sales. While living in Roanoke, she met her husband, Doug Maier, whom she married on August 31, 1997. They had 2 beautiful children, Douglas 9, and Mckenzie 6. Susan's greatest loves were her husband and children, whom she adored and cared for. Susan was an avid athlete, and ran 2 marathons and also loved to swim and ski. Susan enjoyed travel, and had the opportunity to do so as she had family in Argentina, England, and Spain. She will always be remembered for her strength, courage, kindness and beautiful smile. She touched more lives and had more friends then anyone can imagine. We love her and will miss her deeply.
