Susan Ann Nielsen

April 28, 1958 — February 26, 2025

Littleton

Susan Nielsen, age 66, passed away peacefully at Highline Place Memory Care early Wednesday morning, February 26th, 2025 after her grueling battle with early onset Alzheimer's disease. Susan was born April 28th, 1958 in Algoma Wisconsin to Lawrence and Eva Annoye. Susan grew up with her parents and three older brothers in Algoma, WI before leaving home to receive her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin – Green Bay.

Susan met the love of her life, Mark, while they both worked at Rocky Flats near Denver, Colorado. On July 4th, 1994, Mark and Susan married in Milwaukee Wisconsin, and then spent 28 blissfully wedded years in Colorado where they raised their daughter, Emily.

Susan spent a brief part of her career teaching in Hawaii before transitioning to a leadership role at the telecommunication company, Jones Intercable. When Emily was two years old, Susan made the selfless career change to full-time stay-at-home-mom and enjoyed participating in school events and signing up to be ‘class mom’ all throughout Emily’s elementary school years.

Susan had a true passion for helping people and spent much of her time volunteering at food banks, underprivileged schools, and donation centers. Susan received numerous awards for her volunteerism and made such a positive impact on her community throughout her life. When she wasn’t volunteering, Susan loved tending to her flower gardens and could be found most spring and summer days nurturing her flower beds and throwing beautiful garden parties and ‘card club’ events every year. Susan loved hosting parties and matching decorations to any theme. None held a candle to her famous annual Christmas White Elephant parties complete with transforming the entire house into a winter wonderland for the occasion!

Susan was preceded in death by her husband, Mark, her mother, Eva, and her father, Lawrence. She is survived by her daughter, Emily, her son in law, Braiden, and her 3 brothers, David, Bruce, and Jim. Susan was passionate, loving, and God fearing. She had a beautiful soul and will be missed by so many. A celebration of life will take place at a later date once we have some beautiful spring days to enjoy.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a charitable donation in Susan’s name to either of the following.
