Suzanne Hughes Elder passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 5, 2020.
Born on October 15, 1939 in Provo, Utah, she was the daughter of the late Moral Rex Hughes and Mary Elizabeth Rouse Hughes and the sister of the late Jean Hughes and Stephen R. Hughes. Suzanne is survived by her sister Kathryne A. Hughes, nieces Marie E. DeVincenzo and Monica K. Farnsworth and her brother James Dixon Hughes and wife Raquel Casillas-Hughes.
Suzanne had three children, Loreli Monaco, Ramon (Gloria) Elder and Craig A. Elder.
She is Grandmother to Jesse J. Griego (Kelly Boughton, Kelley S. (Julio) Luna, Danielle M. Griego, Casey N. (Caitlin) Elder, Brianna M. Elder and Peyton R. Elder. Suzanne had three great grandchildren, Allison M Griego, Emily B. Griego, Levi A. Luna and one on the way.
Suzanne Hughes (Elder) was often referred to as âone of a kind', her ability to listen was a skill that only few possessed. Her curiosity was insatiable and her generosity was limitless. She dedicated her career to fight for the underrepresented, the disadvantaged and the discriminated. However, after many years of working for health and human services in DC, she retired early to be with her children, grandchildren and friends in Colorado. Above all, Suzanne she leaves a legacy of kindness and compassion which will remain in the hearts of loved ones forever, she was a friend to many and loved by all.
A celebration of life will be held at a future date when we can all be together.
