September 30, 1931 — January 29, 2010

Suzanne Owens Parrott Born in Canyon, Texas on September 30, 1931 Died on January 29, 2010. Suzanne Owens Parrott was born September 30, 1931 to Leonard Hayes and Susie Owens in Canyon, TX. Her older brother was Charles and her younger brother and sister were Jim and Mary. She lived in Canyon until graduation from West Texas State Teachers' College where she married her college sweetheart Rousseau Joseph (Jay) Tatman close to graduation from college in 1952. Shortly after their marriage Jay joined the Air Force and started jet training which meant many moves around the southwest. Suzanne enjoyed teaching Home Economics and English wherever they were stationed. Her first daughter Cynthia Anne was born in 1955 while stationed in Albuquerque, NM. Jay was killed in a plane crash in December of 1960 while in the service of his country. Five years later dear church friends, Wayne & Marilyn Peay, introduced Suzanne to Ernest Parrott who served in the Navy with Wayne. Suzanne was lucky to find love a second time and she and Ernie were married in June of 1965 in Canyon, TX. They moved to Galveston, TX and in July of 1967 her second daughter Catherine Mary was born. Ernie was an architect and accepted a position in the Denver area. They moved to Golden, CO in the summer of 1968 and remained in the area. Suzanne continued to teach many years at Wheat Ridge Junior High and later at Carmody Junior High Schools. She was a wonderful and creative teacher, loved by her students and was often approached and thanked by previous students many years later. Always active in her church and P.E.O., she had many cherished friends. Preparing ladies teas, bridge parties and other seasonal events both at home and with her various groups brought her much joy and personal satisfaction. Always curious and eager to learn she traveled extensively with Ernie. An avid reader, she was active in a monthly book club for many years. She was also a devoted member of St. Joseph Episcopal Church and sang in the choir for many years. She was a beloved and cherished wife, mother and grandmother who will be missed dearly. She was a very positive and loving person who left the world a better place. She is survived by a brother Jim Owens (Gail) n Arkansas and sister Mary Winters (Allen) in Amarillo, TX, daughters Cindy Sponsler ( Mike) and Catherine Kisluk and grandsons Ian Kisluk and Kieran Hickman of Lakewood, CO.
