""Swede"" George LeRoy Youngren

George ""Swede"" LeRoy Youngren, 87, of Denver, Colorado passed July 14, 2014. George LeRoy Youngren was born on February 4, 1927 in Denver, CO to Hanna Engberg Youngren and George Gunnar Youngren. He attended Denver Public Schools and East High School. George proudly served in the Navy after high school. When George returned to Denver after his military service, he attended The University of Denver and studied architecture. He married JoAnn Ferguson on June 26, 1948. They were blessed with four wonderful children, Cyndy, Doug, Greg and Joe. One of George's first jobs was making granite monuments and headstones. George spent the majority of his adult life in heating and air conditioning sales, and finished his work career with Denver Public Schools. George was always an outgoing person, easily and happily striking up conversations with anyone near him. He loved being with his family and wanted to help them whenever he could. George was able to travel abroad to Ireland and Sweden and met some of his relatives while vacationing there. He loved trips to the mountains for camping and fishing with his family. He was always carrying his camera to lock the memories for him and his family. George also enjoyed taping old time movies and history shows that filled his time in his later years. His collection included over 1, 000 VCR tapes. George was a farmer at heart, and taught his children an appreciation for gardening. George is survived by JoAnn Youngren, Cyndy (John), Doug (Treva), Greg (Tammy) and Joe, and six grandchildren: Joshua, Nick, Tyler, Kendra, Dan and Katie, and many cousins, nephews and nieces. George is predeceased by his parents and his sister, Mary Jane Tormey, who died a few months ago. George bravely fought with pain and a variety of illnesses for most of his adult life, and the family feels peace knowing that he is no longer in pain. We pray that George is now with his Creator, and finally at peace. Funeral Services in his honor will be Thursday, July 24, 2014, beginning at 11:00 AM, at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 3101 South Wadsworth Boulevard, Lakewood, Colorado. Interment will military honors will follow at 2:00 PM, at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Staging Area ""A"", 3698 South Sheridan Boulevard, in Denver, Colorado.
