Sylvester Joseph Becker, (Sy) aged 102, of San Tan Valley, Arizona passed away peacefully on October 8th 2024 at 2:46 am.
He was born in Flemming, Colorado on December 29th, 1921, as the 10th child of Henry and Anna Becker. Sylvester graduated from Johnstown High School in 1940. He then served in the Army Air Force during WWII from July, 1942 until December, 1945 where he was an aircraft and engine mechanic. After the war he worked for the Gates Rubber Company in Denver, Colorado retiring after devoting 40+ years.
He was actively involved in several bowling leagues for decades and was a 4th degree knight in the Knights of Columbus. Once Sylvester retired, he began volunteering with All Souls Catholic Church, attending mass every day until shortly before his passing.
Sylvester was married to Mary Margret Becker for nearly 50 years, from 1963 until her passing in 2012.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Brigid Becker Briles and Jeff Briles.
Rosary will be held at 5:00pm on Tuesday, October 29th at Horan & McConaty (5303 East County Line Road, Centennial, Colorado, 80122) Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, October 30th at All Souls Catholic Church (4950 South Logan Street, Englewood, Colorado 80113). Father Michael O’shea of Limerick, Ireland will be officiating. Reception immediately following. Buriel will follow the funeral at Fort Logan National Cemetery (4400 West Kenyon Avenue, Denver, Colorado 80263) at 2:30pm. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Horan & McConaty.
