Sylvia Jeannine Lewis
December 29, 1933 - August 1, 2020.
Sylvia Jeannine Lewis was born in Denver, CO on December 29, 1933 to Clarence Geer and Rose Jungbluth. She passed away at her home on Saturday, August 1, 2020, surrounded by her family.
Sylvia was born and lived in Southeast Denver, and was graduated from South High School. In 1952, she met Dick Lewis through mutual friends. After a year long courtship, they married in 1953. A few years after their union, Myron Keith was born, and two years later came Barbara Ann.
Along with her husband, the couple started Lewis’ Fine Candies in 1962. They had stores at Villa Italia Mall, Lakeside Mall, Boulder Mall and Cinderella City Mall. They ran their candy company until 1999. At that time, their son Myron and his wife Heidi took over the business, which they ran until 2009.
After retirement, Sylvia decided to go back to work, and chose to work at Costco. Sylvia loved working at Costco, and was the little lady at the door that everyone knew. She worked at Costco for 15 years, working 40 hours a week until shortly before her death. She was loved by many, and never knew a stranger. She touched people’s hearts with her kindness, her compassion, and her beautiful smile.
Sylvia is survived by her husband of 67 years, Dick, her son Myron and wife Heidi, daughter Barbara Wolpert, and husband Joe, grand children Madison and Kaden Lewis, Olivia Michel, and husband Stephen, Joseph Wolpert and fiancé Jennifer Francis, and great grandson Joshua Michel.
Sylvia loved her family above all else, and was thrilled to have her first great grandchild. She loved all animals and had such a soft heart for her little friends. Costco was a big part of her life, and she loved her co-workers, and the members.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to the American Cancer Society, or The National MS Foundation.
