Terry Kent Kruschwitz

March 9, 1953 — March 17, 2008

Terry Kent Kruschwitz, 55, died peacefully on March 17, 2008. Beloved husband of Gladys; loving father of Nicole (Dan) Korte, Shauna (Jeff) Flege and Joel (Ellen) Kruschwitz; proud grandpa of Alyssa and Emma Korte; expectant grandpa of Baby Girl Flege and Baby Boy Kruschwitz; son of Lyle and Helen Kruschwitz of Rolette, ND; brother of Cheryl (Dennis) Jelleberg, Pamela Walsh, Kim (Victoria) Kruschwitz and Darren Kruschwitz. Terry was born at Valley City, North Dakota on March 9, 1953. He spent his early years in the Cooperstown area, and moved to Rolette with his family in 1958. Terry attended Rolette schools, and in high school played basketball and football. He graduated from Rolette High School in 1971, and attended the University of North Dakota. He and Sunny met in speech class at UND in 1972, and dated throughout college. In 1973, Terry left UND to work at the family grocery business in Rolette. On January 11, 1975, he married Gladys (Sunny) Sondag at the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit in Bismarck, North Dakota. Their wedding had the uniqueness of being the only wedding performed in North Dakota that day because of a raging ""25 year blizzard."" Terry and Sunny lived in Rolette where he continued to work at the grocery business until August of 1975, when he became employed with Western States Wholesale, a health and beauty aids company. They moved to Mobridge, South Dakota and lived there for about a year. Nicole Celeste Kruschwitz was born on April 29, 1976, at Mobridge. In August of 1976, Terry and Sunny moved to Bismarck, North Dakota where Terry continued to work for Western States. Shauna Irene Kruschwitz was born on May 31, 1977 in Bismarck, and Joel Philip Kruschwitz made his appearance on September 30, 1978. Terry and Sunny lived in Bismarck and raised their children there until 1986, when Terry was transferred to Denver, Colorado. By then, Western States had merged with Mass Merchandisers, and later with Milbrook. Terry continued to work in sales and as a supervisor until 1999, when he left the company and began working for Mutual of Omaha. In 2002, he left the insurance business and became employed with Standard Coffee where he worked in the coffee service business until his diagnosis in February of 2006. Terry was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and was a president in Bismarck North Dakota in the early 80's. Terry took special delight in his granddaughters Alyssa and Emma Korte and spent hours with them building blocks, reading and just being Grandpa. He was especially looking forward to the births of his next two grandchildren at the end of March and early April. Shauna and Jeff are expecting a girl, and Joel and Ellen are expecting a boy. Terry really wanted to be here for those events. Terry's favorite hobbies were coin collecting and fishing. He loved his fishing trips to Canada with his friends, his brothers and his son. He was able to enjoy one last fishing trip in June of 2007, and said that it was the best ever. Terry was an avid baseball fan and especially thrilled when our Colorado Rockies advanced to the World Series last October. Terry spent hours playing pinochle with his brother-in-law Arnie, and then later with his brothers, his Dad, and Joel. His family and friends have many cherished memories of time spent with Terry. We celebrate his continued presence in our lives as he begins to experience the eternal Easter. Visitation Sunday 5-7 pm with Vigil Service at 7 pm at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 11150 E.
