Father Wilbur Thomas Kissell, age 86, was born on January 4, 1925 in Denver, Colorado. He died on March 14, 2011 in Mobile, Alabama. Father Kissell was ordained at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception on June 2, 1951 in Denver. Father was ordained a Catholic Priest for the Diocese of Mobile, Alabama. He served the Diocese of Mobile faithfully for sixty years. Father Kissell resigned as pastor of St. Andrew's Church Parish in Montgomery, Alabama after 25 years of dedication. Father then retired in December of 2010. He could have been a Bishop in the Catholic Church, but chose not to be. Services were held in his honor in Montgomery with his family attending. Father Wilbur was the loving son of the late Thomas Howard and Susie Mary Kissell. Father Wilbur was the dear brother to Beverly M. (George J.) Konrad, Vivian L. Leonhard, Walter E. Kissell, Donald A. (Patricia M., deceased) Kissell, Joan A. (Gerald E.) Chouinard; sister-in-law Rosemarie (Leo J., deceased); and by several nieces and nephews, all of the Denver area. A Requiem Mass of Christian Burial will be said in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception at 10:00 AM Saturday, celebrated by Reverend Monsignor Leo Horrigan. Pallbearers will be Father's nine nephews. Burial services will be at 12:00 noon in the family plot at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, with a reception to follow. The family requests no flowers.
