Thea Tuerpe, of Denver, Colorado passed on from this life November 2, 2020 at Brookdale Meridian Lakewood Nursing Center surrounded by family and caregivers. She is survived by her son Chris, daughter in law Marita, grandchildren Max and Veronica. She is also survived by nephews and nieces in Germany and Switzerland. Ulrike and Marion Mischler, Maria, Michael and Gerhard Helfrich.
Thea was born on April 12 1928, in Biblis Germany, the daughter of Barthel Aloys Mischler and Apollonia Metz. In 1946, she met Egon Tuerpe in Biblis who she would later marry when they reunited in New York. She emigrated to Worcster, Massachusetts with an American Army Doctors family who she cared for while they were stationed in Heidelberg. Thea and Egon were married in 1955 and divorced in 1972. She was a loving mother to Michelle and Chris who she raised on Long Island. She loved to travel with friends to yoga retreats and cross country skiing destinations. On Long Island she kept herself in great health with a large garden, chasing her two children, and swimming and walking along the beach. Her occupations on Long Island included residential and commercial real estate sales, as well as baking cakes that were sold at the local community cinema. She was always baking and cooking for her friends and family and was interested in holistic healthy creations.
She moved to Colorado in 2003 to watch and help raise her grandkids. While in Denver, Thea was very involved with choir singing and women's social groups as well as knitting and cooking for her grandkids. She continued to entertain and cook for her friends and family into her late 80’s and 90’s.
A Memorial service will be held December 18th 2020 at 2:30 in the afternoon at Fairmount Cemetery where her remains will be buried alongside the remains of her daughter Michelle who passed away in 2010.
