Thelma Marie Broemmel

Thelma Marie Broemmel (Tegler) passed away on December 16, 2015, from post-surgical complications. She was at her home with her family. Thelma was born in Dyersville, Iowa, on January 28, 1924, the daughter of Leo and Veronica Tegler. Her parents preceded her in death. She was raised on a farm and graduated from Lamont High School in Iowa. After graduation, she moved to and worked in San Francisco, California, ultimately ending up in Denver, Colorado, with her sister, Margie Tegler Simms. It was in Denver that Thelma met her husband, Frank C. Broemmel. They married in 1955. Her brother, Rev. Herbert Tegler, officiated at the wedding. Her sister, Margie, married James B. Simms during the same ceremony. Thelma was mother of two children: Mike Broemmel, born in 1962 and Jill Broemmel, born in 1964. They both reside in Denver. Thelma and her husband Frank celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in May 2005. Frank preceded her in death later that year. In addition to her sister Margie and brother Herbert, Thelma had three brothers and sisters-in-law who preceded her in death: Richard Tegler (Theresa), Harold Tegler (Dorothy) and Wayne Tegler (LaVon). Church and family were the cornerstones of Thelma's life. Beginning in the early days of her marriage when she and Frank oversaw the church youth group, she remained involved in various church endeavors, programs and activities. A Visitation will be held Sunday, January 3, 2016, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm, Recitation of the Rosary will follow at 3:00 pm at the Horan & McConaty South Denver Chapel, 1091 S. Colorado Blvd., Denver, Colorado, 80246. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, January 4, 2016, at 10:00 am at the Church of the Risen Christ, 3060 S. Monaco Pkwy., Denver, Colorado, 80222. Internment will take place Monday, January 4, 2016, at 2:00 pm at Ft. Logan National Cemetery, Staging area ""A"" 3698 S. Sheridan Blvd., Denver, Colorado 80235. Thelma and the Broemmel family have long been supporters of the Carmelite Monastery. In lieu of flowers, a contribution can be made to Carmelite Monastery, 6138 S. Gallup St, Littleton, Colorado, 80120.
