Thelma Wood

June 26, 1918 — June 22, 2009

Thelma Wood was born June 26, 1918 in Wayne County, Iowa, to Oscar and Ruth Wood. Thelma was a loving wife, mother, grandmother & friend, She spent her life building memories, always extending her arms in embrace to others and expanding her circle of loved ones. Thelma lived in Denver, spending over 50 years of marriage with her husband Robert Wood. Much like the quaint brick house she and Bob lived in for so many years, her life was a strong, enduring place for others to find wisdom, laughter, and love. One year ago she celebrated her 90th birthday with her friends and family- some travelling across the country to honor this milestone of her life. No matter what life gave her, she lived with great zeal and generosity of spirit, often finding humor and the silver lining. She frequently wrote poems, giving us a laugh and a lesson- which will not be forgotten. She passed away on June 22nd, 2009 but has not left us. Thelma will long be present in our hearts and minds. Thelma was preceded in death by husband Robert, her siblings Fred Stephenson, Paula Bradley & Marcia Snyder. She is Survived by son Paul, Daughter in law Kathryn and grandchildren Hanna Claire Dodson, Peter Stephenson Wood and Kelsey Ruth Wood. Memorial Services are Friday, June 26, 2009 1:00 pm at Horan and McConaty Family Chapel, 3101 South Wadsworth Blvd., Lakewood Colorado. Memorials are suggested in Thelma's Memory to The Denver Teachers Club, 990 Glencoe Street, Denver, CO 80220.
