Theodore A. Greenfield, 82, passed away Sunday, April 2nd, 2006 at Saint Anthony's Central Hospital in Denver, from complications following knee surgery and a stroke. Ted was born August 21, 1923 in Raymond, IL, the son of Percy M. and Maude A. Greenfield. After graduating from Raymond High School, he enlisted in the Navy on December 7, 1941 and served on active duty and in the reserves for a total of 27 years, when he retired in full flight status with the rank of Lieutenant Commander. On August 4, 1945, he married Emma Dean Sloan of Wichita, KS and raised four children: son, James & wife, Kathy of Hamilton, MT, and daughters, Patricia & husband, Barrett Kurre of St. Louis, MO, Janet & husband, Jim Heck of Mound City, MO and Susan of Denver, CO. Ted began his career in building restoration with Western Waterproofing, Inc. in Wichita, KS and later started his own company, Western Restoration, Inc. He then moved his family to St. Louis, MO taking a regional sales position with Jostens Inc. Lastly, moving back, in 1977, to the family's desired location, Denver, CO, by accepting a sales consultant position at, again, Western Waterproofing until his retirement in 1997. Since 1953, Ted was a strong supporter and participant in The Lions Club. He served on the board of the Denver Den three times, was a Key Member, and named Lion of the year in 1999, and was very proud of an unbroken 28 year attendance record. He was also very involved in many other Lion activities, philanthropies and was a regular song leader at the Lions Club meetings. Ted also enjoyed a life long enthusiasm for photography ranging from portraits to the great Colorado landscapes. He devoted many years to acquiring knowledge of gems and in developing skills designing and creating fine jewelry. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Emma Dean, his children, five grandchildren-Andrew and Sarah Greenfield, Julie (Kurre) & husband, Steve Roth, Jonathan Kurre, and Amy Heck, and 2 great grandchildren, Matthew and Evelyn Roth. Preceding him in death are his sister, Alberta Barto and a grandson, Christopher Heck. Memorials, in lieu of flowers, may be sent to The Denver Lions Foundation, 5840 E.
