Theodore Speakman

Theodore Speakman, 92, passed away June 14, 2011. Born February 9, 1919 in Tyrone, OK. Lived in a farm setting until the age of 16 when his family of three brothers and two sisters moved into town. Graduated from high school in 1937 and attended Panhandle State University in Goodwell, OK. Married Carrie Mehl on October 26, 1941. Served in the Air Force in the Southwest Pacific with the 49th Fighter Group from March, 1942 until May, 1946. After returning from WW II, Theodore attended Colorado University in Boulder, CO, graduating with a BS degree in Business Finance in 1948. He worked for Chevron Oil for 29 years, retiring in Lakewood, CO in 1977. Theodore is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years Carrie; three sons, Michael (Ellen), Lary, and Daryl (Susan), one daughter Paula (Rich) Karabell; six grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. His hobbies included fishing, wood working and sports, but family was the most important of all. Visitation Sunday, June 19, 4-6 pm at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 3101 S Wadsworth Blvd, Lakewood. Military burial at Ft. Logan National Cemetery, Monday, June 20, 9 am, Staging Area ""A"". Memorial Service will follow at 11 am at Our Savior's Church, 1975 S Garrison St, Lakewood.
