Theresa Phillips

Theresa Viola Phillips passed peacefully at home September 6th, 2022. She was born July 26th, 1923 and had an absolutely wonderful life filled with the joy of family, friends and community.

Theresa was married to Johnny (Roy) L. Phillips for 66 years and they were blessed with two children, Penelope S. Wilcox (Elbert III) of Littleton,Colorado and Johnny L. Phillips II (Linda) of Des Moines, Iowa.

Throughout the blessing of her 99 years, Theresa was busy and involved in activities throughout her community. She volunteered as a BlueBird leader in the 1950's and a Cub Scout den leader in the 1960's. She was always ready to volunteer in school related functions while her children were growing up.

Theresa was an active member of her Bowling Club in Lakewood and her Garden Club in Applewood Knolls. Gardening was a great passion and she boasted over the beautiful violet rose bushes she tended so carefully, at every opportunity. It was also Theresa’s great joy to faithfully meet with her Sewing Club for over 39 years, members of which included some of her dearest friends and relatives.

Truly a lady from an elegant era, she was always sharply dressed, often in her favorite purple with matching jewelry.
Decorating her home to welcome guests for the holidays was a favorite annual tradition of Theresa’s. Of all the celebrations, she loved Valentine's Day most. Every year for the duration of their 66-year marriage her devoted husband would faithfully present Theresa with a fancy box of her favorite See’s Dark Chocolates for the occasion, a tradition that continued long after his passing in 2007, thanks to
her family.

In addition to her daughter and son, Theresa is survived by granddaughters Taylor L. Hicks, Paige L. Levering, great-grandson Vincent M. Hicks and great-granddaughters Tatum R. Levering, and Janice M. Hicks.

Family will gather privately to celebrate Theresa’s life at a later date. No services are planned. Theresa will be laid to rest next to her beloved veteran husband at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver Colorado on October 4th, 2022.
