Therese Santoya, age 73 died at Good Samaritan Hospital in Lafayette Colorado, on Saturday May 20th. She was a graduate of West High School in Denver Colorado, and attended Colorado State University for some time after that.
Therese was a native of Colorado, and couldn’t imagine living anywhere else. She worked one job before she worked for the Government (HUD) for many years, before she retired early.
Therese took her views regarding politics, religion, friends, and family, very serious, and was for the most part an introverted person, who loved to read, and do crossword puzzles. In addition, she also loved to spend time with her siblings, Russell’s family, and her parents as well.
In Therese’s early years she did some campaigning for her political party, and raised her only child, a daughter, Trace’. She was also very active for many years, with her husband Russell, in their club, The Eagles, which at the time was on 17th and Federal. She was an avid Broncos Fan, and used to sometimes go to the games, and most times you could catch her at home yelling, and cheering for them, very loudly, for the whole neighborhood to hear.
Therese is survived by her daughter Trace’, her husband Tony, her 2 grandchildren, Mikey, and Reign, 2 grand dogs, Everett, and Biscuit, as well as one remaining living sibling Deb / Nikki Chavez, all of whom she loved very much. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, too many to mention. She is proceeded in death by her husband Russell, her sisters, Angela Martinez, Ernestine Banuelos, Sharon Chavez, Mildred Sandoval, her one brother Orlando Chavez, and her parents Tomasita, and Orlando.
