Theresia Jackson

November 17, 1923 — July 5, 2015

Theresia R. Jackson, 91, of Denver passed away Sunday, July 5, 2015 at 91 years of age. She is survived by a daughter, and son-in-law, Anita and Tom Stauch; two grandchildren, Kristie Stauch-White (and husband Michael White) and Mark Stauch (and wife Hadley Solomon) and eight great-grandchildren: Kirk Reesman (and wife Shavonne), 25; Serik White, 12; Illiam White, 10; Frances White, 7; Mercer Stauch, 11; Henry Stauch, 10; Greta Stauch, 8; and Charlotte Stauch, 5. Oma was born in the small town of Wals in the state of Salzburg, Austria on November 17, 1923 to Thomas Heil and Theresia Frauenlob. Her father worked as a caretaker at Schloss (castle) Klesheim. As a girl, she did well in school, liked it and worked in her grandmother's store. She received a degree in business management. She also worked in the family floral business in Salzburg. This suited her since she enthusiastically loved flowers and gardening. On April 9, 1942, at 19 years of age, she married Georg Roider and they operated a store together. On September 22, 1943, they had a daughter, Anita Theresia Stauch. At the end of World War II, Theresia and Georg separated and she immigrated to the United States with her daughter. On January 5, 1948 she married Oren D. Rozanski in Decatur, Illinois. She had another daughter, Sonja Karin Rozanski on August 2, 1949. Oren was a Master Seargent in the Army and they lived in several places including North Carolina, New Jersey, Saltzburg, Austria, and Fort Carson (formerly Camp Carson). Here she was a scout leader in the Girl Scouts of America and she became a U.S. citizen. Theresia and Oren were divorced in 1957 and Theresia raised her daughters in Colorado Springs, Colorado. During this time, she went back to school and earned a degree in dental hygiene. She worked in this field for many years. She had many friends, old and new, both from the United States and Austria. She placed great value in friendships and maintained them from childhood throughout her life. On June 26, 1964, she married Frederick E. Jackson, the love of her life, and they moved to Denver, Colorado. They enjoyed traveling and working together for many years. Upon retirement, they wintered in Mesa, Arizona each year. On February 21, 1992, Fred passed away. Theresia had a very active life. She loved gardening, both flowers and vegetables and has a garden even now. She was an excellent cook and loved sharing Austrian delicacies with family and friends. She enjoyed the outdoors, the mountains and was an avid trout fisherman. She could name every wildflower here and in Austria in both English and German. Everyone whose life she touched became richer from knowing her. She was much loved and is missed. Memorial Service Saturday, July 11, 2015, 1:00pm, Horan & McConaty Famly Chapel, 11150 E. Dartmouth Ave., Aurora.
