Theron O Messer, 74, passed away June 17, 2014, in Littleton, Colorado. He was born April 19, 1940, in St. Johns, Michigan to Donald O. and Lois Harrell Carmine Messer. Theron's childhood was spent on a farm in central Michigan with his parents, grandmother and three sisters. He and his wife, Wenda, were childhood sweethearts and celebrated 54 years of marriage. Theron spent much of his adult life as a businessman and 20 years with Grace Ministries as a Christian counselor, teacher, writer and mentor. He earned his master's degree in Religion/Society Studies at age 55. He was a voracious reader and researcher and loved leading small group discussions about faith and life. Theron will be missed by his loving family: wife, Wenda Messer; three children, Lynette Pickering (husband, Randy); Jeff Messer (wife, Heidi); and Shelley Wallen (husband, Aric); grandchildren, Trent (wife, Kelly), Brandon and Taylor Pickering; Kelsey (fiancé, Billy Sprague), Kendall and Conor Messer; great-grandchildren, Emma 2, Joshua (our angel who passed away at birth) and baby Pickering (soon to arrive); sister, Ruthmary Brewbaker; sister, Sharon Bachman (husband, Pastor Jim); and sister, Sandy Harrington, deceased (husband, Lester); and many nieces, nephews and cousins. A Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 24, 2014, 2:00pm, Rockland Community Church, 17 S. Mt. Vernon Country Club Road, Golden, CO 80401.
