Thomas Patrick Flanagan

Thomas Flanagan, died at age 59, on July 6, 2011, at his home in Westminster, Colorado. He was born to parents James Patrick Flanagan and Barbara Margaret Flanagan in New York City, New York on November 15, 1951. Mr. Flanagan served proudly in the United States Army for over 20 years. During his military career, he was presented with ïéé½The Air Medalïéé½ for bravely participating in more than 25 aerial missions over hostile territory, in support of operations against communist forces. He was also presented with ïéé½The Bronze Star Medalïéé½ for outstandingly meritorious service during his time in the Vietnam War. More recently, Tom was a tenured arts professor for the Art Institute of Colorado. He was coveted by staff and students for his ability to see the potential in anyone. He would push his students as far as they could go and then a little more. He was a true and caring leader of men, both in battle and in life. He is survived by his children, James, Shawn and Melissa Flanagan; 2 grandchildren; mother, Barbara Flanagan; and siblings, Linda Flanagan and Laura and Richard Quinn. His father James Patrick Flanagan preceded him in death. A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, July 18, 2011 at 9 AM, Fort Logan National Cemetery, Pavilion A, 3698 South Sheridan Boulevard, Denver, Colorado. A Memorial Service will take place on Friday, July 22, 2011 at 3 PM, The Art Institute of Colorado, 1200 Lincoln Street, Denver, Colorado.
