Thomas ""Tom"" Leonard

Thomas William Leonard of Denver, Colorado, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 2nd, 2018 in Englewood, Colorado. There will be a viewing on Sunday, February 11th from 2pm until 4pm followed immediately by a Rosary service at Horan & McConaty Mortuary 3101 S. Wadsworth Blvd in Lakewood. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, February 12th at 10am at Notre Dame Catholic Church at 2190 S Sheridan Blvd in Denver. Tom was born in Denver, Colorado on December 21, 1937 to Ann and Carl Leonard. He married his lifelong soulmate Jody (Heath) Leonard on April 8, 1961. In 1966, they welcomed their son, Brad and in 1968, their daughter, Cara to their family. From 1961 until 1967 Tom proudly served his country with the US Army at Fort Carson, Colorado. Tom worked hard his whole life eventually becoming Vice President of a premier title insurance company in Denver. His career spanned several decades before he retired in 2003. When he was younger, he was in a bowling league for many years. He was also in the golf club at Notre Dame Catholic Church. He got his one and only “hole in one” at Foothills Golf Club in 1990. He never missed a party and enjoyed his last beer just a few days prior to his passing. He loved to travel with Jody. They saw all corners of the world by land, sea and air. Las Vegas with those one-armed bandits and Hawaii with those beautiful beaches were among their favorite places to unwind. Tom provided for his family in many ways and always put his family first. He was a dedicated husband, loving father, proud grandfather, new great grandfather and a caring and gentle man to all. Survivors include Jody, his wife of 56 years (2 months away from their 57th anniversary); son Brad, his children Clayton, Anna and Nathalie; his wife Kimbra and her children Meggan and Calvin; and one great grandson Miles; daughter Cara and her children Andrew, Jennifer and Mya. Other survivors include many nieces, nephews, and cousins from both sides of the family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ann and Carl, his brother Richard, his sisters Betty, Helen and her husband Jack, and Barbara and her husband Chuck. A special heartfelt thank you goes to the extraordinary caregivers at the Brookdale Meridian Senior Living facility in Englewood, Colorado where Tom had a whole other “family” to love and care for him.
