Thomas J. ""Tom"" McCormack

September 16, 1934 — April 29, 2020

Thomas Joseph McCormack, age 85, passed away of natural causes on April 29, 2020 in Aurora, Colorado. Tom was born September 16, 1934 in Denver, Colorado to Thomas Joseph McCormack and Mary Downey.
Tom graduated from Immaculate Conception Cathedral High School in 1952. Tom enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1954, where he ranked as a Corporal and served until his honorable discharge on June 6, 1957. He then spent his professional career as a sheet metal worker for 50+ years. He was a life-time member of the Local Sheet Metal Worker Union.

Tom met Barbara Hoard for the first time in 1958 and they went on a couple of dates. Although they did not officially get together at this time, Barbara kept track of Tom, until they came back together again in 1966. Tom and Barbara were married on April 15, 1972 and spent 48 wonderful years together. They lovingly adopted two wonderful children, David and Georgette.

Tom was a proud native, having lived in Colorado all his life. One of his joys was watching baseball, specifically the Colorado Rockies. He also found great pleasure in taking his beloved dog Joey for walks, doing this up until the point where he could not walk any more.

Tom is survived by his wife, Barbara McCormack, his children, David McCormack and Georgette McCormack-Santos, his grandchildren, Brandon McCormack and Mariah Santos and many, many nieces and nephews, and his brother-in-law, George Hoard.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Mary McCormack; his siblings: Elizabeth Goddard, John McCormack, Denis McCormack, Alice Popish, Dorothy Boe, Patricia McCormack and Helen Andersen.

A private funeral mass will be held in Tom's honor on Wednesday 5/6/2020 10am. Due to the COVID-19 virus, this will not be open to the public for attendance, however, if you want to view the service virtually, click the following link.
