Thomas Joseph Pieters

Thomas Joseph Pieters, of Brighton, Colorado, died on October 26th, 2024 after a strong, and courageous battle with cancer. He was 75 years young. Tom was born on July 15, 1949 in Denver, Colorado to Joseph and Leona Pieters. 

Tom was a Navy Veteran, serving three tours of duty during the Vietnam War. His service to his country and nation was one of the things he was the most proud of. After his service in the US Navy, Tom earned his Bachelor's degree in Material Engineering and went on to work for the City of Aurora for over 40 years. 

Following the death of his first wife, Alice, Tom met and married the next love of his life, Marcella Wells, on February 14, 2012. Tom and Marcella enjoyed bike riding, traveling, 4-wheeling, and gardening. Some of their favorite times together were spent riding bikes along the beautiful countrysides of Ireland and Vermont, and spending time with family and friends. Tom enjoyed working with his hands and would make custom doll houses for his great granddaughter and the children of the neighborhood. He was an avid gardener and could grow the most beautiful and colorful roses and dahlias. He also enjoyed cooking for family gatherings; ribs and Christmas goose were his specialty! Tom was a special man and a very fun and colorful character! He had a pierced ear because of a bet he made, took Marcella for rides on the back of his motorcycle, and had a lime green Jeep, equipped with a lift kit, a winch, and jack so they would be ready for any 4-wheeling adventure that might come their way! 

Tom is survived by his loving wife Marcella, sweet dog Mollie, and step children, Joey (Mike) Wells, Shawa Wells, and Byron (Amy) Wells, grandchildren, Katyie, Sam, Claire, and Jack Wells, one great granddaughter, Ayda Rea, and one sister-in-law, Lee Anne Lewis. He was preceded in death by his first wife Alice, and his parents, Leona and Joseph Pieters.

 Funeral Services will take place at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lafayette, CO on Tuesday, November 19th. There will be a recitation of the Rosary at 10am, and Mass at 10:30am. A luncheon will immediately follow the Mass in the church hall. There will be a burial with Military Honors at Ft. Logan Cemetery at 2pm.
