On December 23, 1963 Thomas W. Price (Tom) was born in Towanda Pennsylvania, son of Roger and Joan Price and sister, Susan. When he was four, his younger sister Barbara joined the family. Growing up in the eastern part of the United States, Tom was a lively boy who enjoyed everything life had to offer. Roger fondly remembers him as ""a happy kid who loved life. He enjoyed getting up in the morning, playing, fighting with his sisters."" Tom's mother Joan recalls that ""he ate everything in sight.""
Roger's work for GMAC brought the family to Littleton, Colorado. At 17 Tom began his junior year at Columbine High School where he met his future wife, Cathy at new student orientation. Tom and Cathy began dating soon after and continued to date through high school being awarded ""Most Likely to Get Married"" in their senior class.
Tom graduated from high school in 1982, and continued his education at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley. His freshman year, he joined the Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity and made lifelong friendships. Tom graduated with a Bachelor's of Science in accounting in May 1986 and became a Certified Public Accountant in the state of Colorado.
His career began at Deloitte and Touche where he was an auditor, but quickly transitioned to Wyoming Refining Company. For the next 28 years, Tom worked at WRC and moved from accounting into the information technology side of the company. Tom was passionate about IT and thoroughly enjoyed working with the Denver and Wyoming employees.
After dating Cathy for 7 years, the two were married on September 3, 1988 at Columbine Catholic Church. Their oldest child, Erika Marie, was born in 1990. She is married to Matt Kuhn (also a CPA/audit manager) and living in San Antonio where she is in her last year of an OBGYN residency. In 1993, Tom and Cathy had a son, Matthew Thomas. He is finishing a degree in accounting and is employed at a tax accounting firm.
Tom, a fun-loving guy, was truly a social butterfly and had an unbelievable number of friends. He was passionate about exercise and especially loved to lift weights. For over 20 years Tom played floor hockey twice a week at the Downtown Denver YMCA. He served the community in a number of ways: YMCA youth soccer coach, Boy Scouts of American Den Leader, YMCA membership committee member/fundraiser. Tom loved to travel, hike, read, ski, drink great beer, whiskey, & wine, smoke an occasional cigar, visit parks and botanical gardens, but most of all, he thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
