Thomas, aka “Junior” passed away on March 24, 2023 after a short battle with Cholangiocarcinoma (Bile Duct Cancer). He was born in Rantoul, Illinois to Phyllis and Thomas P. Rivers, Sr. Junior was married in 1975 to late Lolita Aballe of Cebu City, Philippines. Junior served 20 years in the United States Air Force. During is military career he served 6 years in Fuels Management and 14 years in Manpower/Management Engineering career field. After leaving the Air Force, Junior worked 25+ years in Federal Service for the Department of Air Force. He recently worked as the Director of Manpower Management for the Defense Human Resources Activity in Alexandria, Virginia. Junior loved his job because he never did the same thing two days in a row and he retired in May 2022. Junior is survived by his two wonderful daughters, Lara Jane Hanstrom and Leslie Marie Rivers; his son-in-law Jesse Hanstrom, and his brilliant grandson, Thomas Dean Hanstrom. He is also survived by his dad, Thomas P Rivers, Sr of Donna, Texas, his mother, Phyllis Herrington of Silverdale Washington and his two sisters, Tammy Palmer of Bremerton, Washington and Terri Jouty of Laplace, Louisiana. Junior was a loving husband, father, brother, son, uncle and friend and will be missed. We bid Junior farewell until the day when we will all see each other again.
