Thomas "Tom" Anthony LaSusa

August 18, 1935 — November 14, 2024

Thomas Anthony LaSusa (Tom), born on August 18, 1935, in Brooklyn, NY passed away peacefully on November 14, 2024, in Aurora. A proud veteran, Tom served in both the Navy and the Air Force, achieving the remarkable distinction of being part of the crew on the first nuclear submarine, the USS Nautilus on the first voyage under Antarctica.

Tom met his high school sweetheart, Noma at Babylon High School. Tom entered the Navy shortly after high school graduation in 1953. Tom and Noma were married on Veterans Day in 1956. Tom served 4 years in Navy, then transferring to the Airforce so he could spend more time with his growing family. Tom proudly served in Airforce for 15 years where Tom and his family lived in various areas throughout the world including New York, Connecticut, North Dakota, Germany, Colorado, Maine, Las Vegas and finally settling in the Azuza, CA. Tom retired from the Airforce in August 1975 and began working for NCI Scales. In 1978 he had an opportunity to open his own scale business in Colorado. Tom and Noma moved to Denver, Colorado where they started Mountain Scales, Inc, and worked together growing a successful family business that still exists today.

Tom enjoyed spending his time watching football, boxing, gambling, and playing golf. He found joy in watching his favorite TV shows, including "The Treasure of Oak Island" and various alien-themed programs. Tom enjoyed spending time with his family, coaching his sons in pee wee football games. And watch his kids compete in judo.

Above all, Tom cherished his wife Noma, who predeceased him in 2015. Their bond was a testament to the love they shared throughout their lives together. He is survived by his children, Thomas LaSusa, Jr. (Chino Hills, CA), Mary Rispoli (Aurora, CO), Frank LaSusa (Syracuse, UT), and Robert LaSusa (Aurora, CO), who will remember him fondly. Thomas will be missed dearly by all who knew him, and his legacy of military service and love will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
